TEACHING A CHILD FOREIGN LANGUAGES

Most of our compatriots speak at least one foreign language. At the same time, many are familiar with the feeling of regret: if only parents had considered it important to learn at least one more language or even insisted on it! It is much easier to learn something new at an early age, and you don’t have to “carve out” time for it, because the main thing that is required of a child is learning and creative development.

There are different methods of teaching languages . When choosing a suitable one, evaluate the situation from different angles. Perhaps someone in the family speaks a foreign language at a good level, allowing them to communicate with the child. Pay attention to whether the child has enough free time: most likely, you will have to reconsider the daily routine.

As for the location of the classes, of course, it is desirable that the trip to the courses does not require a lot of time and effort. But, of course, you cannot rely only on the geographical principle. The main thing in this matter is to pay enough attention to the search, responsibly and carefully approach the issue of choice, so that learning a foreign language does not become a problem and brings joy to the child.

Psychologists and teachers often say that the optimal age is 4-5 years old — the time when the child already knows his native language well and has a sufficient vocabulary. It is not so much these numbers that are important, but the child’s actual level of development. If you have any doubts, consult a specialist: he will give recommendations on when you can start teaching.

If you believe that you are able to teach your child a foreign language on your own, be prepared for this activity to become regular. Lessons “from time to time” will not bring results. The optimal option for most families where one of the parents speaks a foreign language is a combination of studying in a group or with a tutor and communicating in the family circle.
